Welcome toThe Elisabeth Morrow School

Discover a school where you don’t have to choose between a rigorous education or a joyful childhood; an inspired journey or a celebrated destination. We give you both — and so much more.

At EMS, joy walks hand in hand with rigor and support. Every day we learn by doing, on a stunning 14-acre campus that’s also a certified wildlife habitat. From age 2 through eighth grade, our students use innovative technologies in immersive indoor and outdoor learning spaces. This all takes place within a diverse and inclusive community that’s intentionally sized so each student may be known and guided as the true individual they are.

Our focus on STEM, the arts, and social-emotional learning — grounded in a robust curriculum and proven methodologies — means we don’t just prepare children for the future. We empower them to shape it. From age 2 through eighth grade, we nurture curious scholars, ethical leaders, and global citizens who have the skills to build the world they’ve only just begun to imagine.

Why Choose EMS?

As experts on whole-child education and development, our faculty help children develop intellectual curiosity, confidence, and social consciousness through interactive, inquiry-based learning. Guided by the belief that every child is infinitely capable, we provide differentiated support in our lower school and advanced academic pathways in our middle school to ensure that every student receives the optimal balance of challenge and support.

From leading practices in STEM and the arts to our community-driven values of inclusion and respect, everything about EMS supports one ambitious outcome: well-rounded, self-actualized leaders who are prepared to innovate and succeed in an ever-changing world.

EARLY CHILDHOOD
AGES 2–4

Students begin their journey through inquiry and discovery, building strong foundations in an environment designed for wonder. By balancing exploration with independence, we spark the curiosity and innovation that allow our youngest learners to realize they are infinitely capable from the very start.

KINDERGARTEN
AGE 5

Hands-on exploration meets more structured academic milestones as students personalize their acquisition of literacy and math skills. By integrating environmental science, the arts, and social-emotional learning into their daily work, students build the resilience and foundational skills needed to succeed in first grade and beyond.

LOWER SCHOOL
GRADES 1–4

Foundational skills become bold intellectual journeys as students move from guided discovery to independent inquiry. Using differentiated instruction, our faculty challenge students to be active problem solvers and innovative learners who construct meaning from complex concepts. This environment builds the confidence and self-awareness necessary for students to become thinkers and leaders in an increasingly interconnected global community.

MIDDLE SCHOOL
GRADES 5-8

This transformative chapter is where childhood wonder evolves into burgeoning independence. In a high-challenge, high-support environment, students tackle advanced electives and our innovative, two-year Leadership Lab curriculum — specifically designed to foster the self-efficacy and voice required to thrive in the most rigorous secondary school experiences.

See Yourself at EMS

- Nelson Chan (Student, Class of 1980)

President/Owner, The Chen Agency, Realtors

“At EMS, I learned to love math. The skills I learned were not so much about the actual calculations — which I probably can't solve anymore — but it was about training your brain to logically go about solving complex problems. These are foundational skills that I use in virtually every aspect of my work.”

“Our daughter has been at EMS since kindergarten. She is going on now to one of the highest rated schools in the country, and we owe so much of that accomplishment to the quality, consideration, compassion and respect that are a part of every academic lesson learned at EMS. Immerse your child in this wonderful environment… you will not regret it.”

- EMS Parent (niche.com)

“We found the school extremely welcoming, and have had so much support from teachers and administrators that we have chosen to send our youngest to EMS next year as well.”

- Julie Gurevich

 (Parent, Class of 2033)

“Moving to another state with kids is a big, anxiety-provoking project. Migrating into The Elisabeth Morrow School family was, however, seamless and felt natural. From our first visit, it was apparent that the EMS campus was where kids could still be kids with curiosity and be supported for their growth and exploration with a community of their peers, teachers, parents, and more. EMS students are being supported, mentored, and connected, to grow and reach their own potential, in harmony with each other.”

- Dr. Joseph Y. Yoon (Parent, Classes of 2027 & 2028)

Neurocritical Care & Neuro-Endovascular Surgery, Department of Neurosurgery/Neurology,

Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai
